warming oatmeal

it’s really just oatmeal
Makes 1 serving

½ cup old fashioned oats
1 cup water
½ tsp sea salt
1 tsp turmeric
½ tsp ground pepper or 2-3 cracks of a pepper mill
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp REAL maple syrup
1 tbsp salted butter (AT LEAST 1 tbsp but i recommend 2-3)

Toppings: anything u want!!! Nuts, seeds, nut or seed butter, dried fruit, freeze-dried berries, fresh fruit, frozen fruit, weird moon juice powders, chocolate chips… or maybe some heavy cream? Yum.

Combine all ingredients in a small pot and cook over medium high heat until boiling. Turn the heat down a bit and stir with increasing frequency as the oats cook down.

Cook until your desired consistency: I like em pretty thick and gloppy, which usually takes a little under 10 minutes, or the amount of time it takes to make a strong french press!

Scoop oats into a cute bowl and top with butter and any additional toppings. Lots of butter and maybe some fresh fruit is my preference!

Cricket LOVES oatmeal and the warming spices and oats are just as good for her, so I usually make this recipe x 1.5 so that she can have a nice lil portion of her own :)

NOATS:

  • Soak your oats and any seeds/nuts overnight for additional digestibility!

  • Use bone broth instead of water to make it more savory and nourishing!

  • Prep as overnight oats and heat up in the morning!

  • really, make some for your dog
